Alex Robins I had my first shop age 23 dealing and restoring most antiques over nearly 40 years in the Midlands and carried on in Cornwall since moving here 1976 I established my first fair in Cornwall 1985/6/organising an antique and flea market in Quintrell Downs Nr. Newquay in the local village hall, at the end of some day's we hadn't taken a lot of money but we all went home with different stock, and we had a busker who was an amazing singer and artist, is now an international known artist. Over the following years I continued dealing in antiques through 1985 - 1992 running Fairs & carboots on Sundays & weekdays, some of the many fairs I ran include The Headland Hotel Newquay, Tregenna Castle Hotel St Ives, City Hall Truro and Pendennis Castle Falmouth (English Heritage) Guild Hall Plymouth & Queens Hotel Penzance, Carboot Sales Flea Markets including Holiday Parks Hendra Newquay & Perransands Perranporth, sometimes 3 events the same day, running fairs 5 days a week under "Fair Promotions West" catering for the influx of constantly changing visitors to Cornwall in season untill my retirement. Only 2 years ago I came out of retirement to do some fairs home and away with fellow dealer and friend Anna Rennie enjoyed being back on the scene so much I got itchy feet wanting to organise again, I did miss the trade both buying and selling, now being back starting Wadebridge Showground which I was always going to do as far back as 1989/90. This is now the perfect time for this venue, response has been amazing, at the time of getting this ready for our first date Easter 2010 I was offered to buy Cornish Fairs with the prestigious fair's at St. Mellion International Golf Resort & Pensilva Liskeard being both very succesfull fairs I could not refuse, with Anna as my business partner we can do so much more with my experience and her youth we work very well together we each have our own strengths. Anna Rennie Anna has been interested in fairs throughout her childhood and attended many mainly with her gran, she has a natural aptitude for antiques a very quick eye excellent for spotting quality and a bargain, (you dont get that out of books) and a good memory, she is a natural dealer & adaptable to what is selling at the time, and will do very well. Her dealing interests include the decorative arts and currently antique dog collars
